Digital X-Rays

Digital radiography is one of the most important new advances that our profession has seen in quite some time. The capability to reduce the exposure of radiation to the patient while increasing our diagnostic proficiency has astounding implications. The reduction of the use of harsh chemicals and other waste materials associated with traditional radiography is also an added benefit to our environment.

Intra Oral Camera

Our office uses intra oral cameras to capture and display digital images from inside our patient’s mouth. These cameras are a valuable tool for patient education and case documentation. Shaped like a small wand, they allow us to capture images for our patients, their Insurance and any specialists we may refer to.

CerecTechnology/ Same day Ceramic Restorations:

Do you cringe when someone says the word “crown”? Do you think of gooey impressions, multiple appointments and just the overall inconvenience of it? Technology now exists that allows patients to go from diagnosis to having a dental crown in place all in the same day. In fact, a CEREC crown only takes a few hours from start to finish.

What is the CEREC crown procedure?
CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramic) uses a high-tech device that allows our Edmonton dental office to create your crown in just one visit. This device uses digital mapping technology to chart the inside of your mouth and take an image of your tooth. A crown is then created out of a high-grade ceramic block and attached to your damaged tooth.

Is a CEREC crown long-lasting?
When compared to a conventional crown, the CEREC same day crown is just as durable, lasting 10-15 years. Our computer-aided technology ensures that each crown is made with a very high degree of accuracy. Quick fabrication doesn’t mean a lower quality product. With twice daily brushing and semi-annual dental exams, CEREC crowns will last for years, giving our clients the beautiful smile they desire.

What is the cost of a CEREC dental crown?
A full CEREC crown ranges from $1200-1500 whereas an implant crown ranges between $1800 and $2500.A same day crown is the perfect solution for anyone wanting to minimize the time spent at the dental office. Contact our office for more information.

Panorex

The Panorex X-ray is an excellent way for dentists to check for problems with the jaw — but as the Panorex X-ray provides an overall view of your mouth, it is not as precise as traditional dental X-rays and may not detect some dental cavities. We use bite wings or other types of X-rays to help diagnose dental problems pertaining strictly to your teeth. The Panorex X-ray is often used in the following areas of dental care:

Early Detection of Oral Cancer — Physical symptoms of oral cancer may not become evident until it’s advanced. A panoramic X-ray makes it easier to see cysts and tumors, whether benign or malignant.

TMJ/TMD — A better view of the TMJ makes it easier to diagnose temporomandibular joint disorder, or TMD. Jaw Bone Problems — We can locate fractures or trauma to the jaw bone. Diseases of the jaw bone are also more evident on a Panorex X- ray.

Gum Disease — Receding bones, a sign of gum disease, can also be seen. We may be able to recommend the correct gum disease treatment upon viewing your Panorex X-ray.

Tooth and Jaw Development — Your dentist may use a Panorex X-ray to determine whether your child’s permanent teeth are developing correctly beneath his or her baby teeth. It is also used to check for a malocclusion in adults.
